She was not a young person when she was my sixth-grade teacher, so I was apprehensive when I looked for her recently. I learned that she died in 2011 at the age of 96; she was predeceased by both her daughter and her husband. I am kicking myself, and worse, for not letting this teacher know how meaningful her gift to me was. There is a lesson here. I loved this post and would like to point readers to Debbie's outstanding poems in The Poetry Friday Anthology (both the K-5 and the Middle School editions). Last week at IRA, I shared "Breaking the Spell" from the Middle School book with a spelling expert from CA. She loved this poem about a poor speller realizing that maybe she CAN spell, after all!Janet Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06335945237210886655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8303906221917588052.post-63280744892812133652013-04-26T08:17:57.724-04:002013-04-26T08:17:57.724-04:00I use this online, but don't have the app on m...I use this online, but don't have the app on my phone-time to get it!
